Matthias hat einen kleinen Mix in Gedenken an Amy Winehouse erstellt:
I decided to do a little tribute mix to Amy Winehouse who passed away too early. „Fuck Me Pumps“ was the first of her songs I heard back in 2003, so I had to begin with that. I also included some of her more or less obscure projects with Mark Ronson, Quincy Jones, and also her slightly out-of-tune cover version of The Skatalites‘ „You’re Wondering Now“. An even lesser known fact is that Amy started her own record label, Lioness Records, where she released music of her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield.
Amy Winehouse was influenced by 1960’s soul as well as by jazz and ska. On her debut album she covered two jazz standards that are also part of this tribute mix, yet interpreted not by Amy but by Georgie Fame and Billie Holiday. Despite her disoriented recent stage appearances, I would have loved to see her live. It’s sad that it had to end like this. RIP, Amy Winehouse! (Foto: http://bit.ly/oaOLMc [cc-by Fionn Kidney])
