BOYS NOIZE / CHILLY GONZALES SECRET PERFORMANCE IN ABANDONED SPY STATION
BERLIN – Sept 9 – BOYS NOIZE and CHILLY GONZALES gave a decaying Cold War spy station it“™s first ever performance- with a full string quartet, hundreds of intelligent lights, and video mapping on massive 90 foot high radar domes.
Berlin“™s highest point is Teufelsberg- Devil“™s Hill- an abandoned Cold War spy station, topped with iconic, dilapidated geodesic radar domes. „ZEITGEIST SYMBIOSIS“ was a secret event at the Teufelsberg presented by Audi, but it“™s was far from a „safe“ corporate function. The risk of a police shut down- and a rainstorm- were two very real threats to the event. One of them happened.
„The rain storm mid set was a shock,“ says one of the show“™s producers. „We had umbrellas to cover the audience, but we lost $50,000 of equipment.“
„It was worth every cent.“
What started as a beautiful summer night concert quickly became a full on rain soaked rave as the sky opened above Berlin. Hundreds scrambled to open umbrellas, dozens fought to protect BOYS NOIZE“™s equipment, and confusion became an exhilarating, glistening dance party. And while some lighting was lost, the cameras were not. We proudly share our video of the first ever performance from Teufelsberg, the abandoned spy station, of BOYS NOIZE & CHILLY GONZALES for ZEITGEIST SYMBIOSIS.
