The Cure veröffentlichen am 13. Juni mit „Mixes of a Lost World“ eine neue Remix-Compilation, die das gefeierte 2024er Album „Songs of a Lost World“ aus neuen Perspektiven beleuchtet. Die Sammlung enthält Remixe und Reworks aller acht Albumtracks – kuratiert von Robert Smith höchstpersönlich – und versammelt eine beeindruckende Auswahl an Künstler:innen aus der elektronischen und experimentellen Musikszene: Mit dabei sind u.a. Four Tet, Mura Masa, Paul Oakenfold, Orbital, Mogwai, Chino Moreno (Deftones), Trentemøller und 65daysofstatic.
Das Projekt begann laut Smith mit „ein paar unerwarteten Remixen nach Weihnachten“, die ihn dazu inspirierten, das komplette Album neu interpretieren zu lassen:
“This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all 8 songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for.”
Die Veröffentlichung erscheint in verschiedenen physischen Formaten:
- Deluxe-Versionen (3LP/3CD/3MC) enthalten sowohl Künstler- als auch Remixer-Versionen,
- Standardversionen (2LP/2CD/2MC) konzentrieren sich ausschließlich auf die Remix-Interpretationen.
Die Deluxe-LPs sind auf 180g Bio-Vinyl in Half-Speed-Mastering gepresst, kommen im Gatefold-Sleeve mit Poster und sind u.a. im The Cure Store erhältlich.
Ein besonders schöner Aspekt: The Cure spenden sämtliche Tantiemen aus dem Projekt an die britische Hilfsorganisation War Child UK, die sich für vom Krieg betroffene Kinder einsetzt.
Reinhören kann man bereits in den Paul Oakenfold ‘Cinematic’ Remix von „I Can Never Say Goodbye“ sowie in den Four Tet Remix zu „Alone“, welcher bereits zum Record Store Day 2025 auf Vinyl erschien.
